Another View of the City

I really liked this view and it was not a stitched image, just one view with some adjustments made in Lightroom. Its my birthday so I'm doing this image just to have something uploaded for the day :)

Another Year

How would you spend your birthday if you wanted to make it the perfect day? Being with friends and family is probably at the very top of my list and I expect it will be just like that.

Last Saturday I had the privilege of photographing Matt and Katie's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and they chose to have some photos taken at the Hermitage Historical Society House which is in the Whispering Pines Park on East State Street in Hermitage. Seeing the joy that they share and the friendship of their friends and family members who participated in the wedding day was a joy. I've posted more images of them in my Wedding Gallery on my website.

City of Champions

On June 2nd I decided to drive to Pittsburgh and get some photos from Mt Washington. Since the Pens were playing that night for the Stanley Cup at Mellon Arena, I figured the city would be lit up pretty well. As it turned out the Pirates were also playing at home so PNC was also lit up, the only thing missing was some lights at Heinz Field. The photo I have here is a panorama I made in Photoshop with 4 images taken that night and merged together. It was pretty windy and I have a cheap tripod so the pic isn't as sharp as I would have liked it. I used my Nikon 14-24 f2.8 lens on the Canon 1DsMKIII camera body. The original image is 12 inches high by 50 inches long when printed, however this images is a much scaled down version.

Whitetail Deer

This beautiful whitetail buck in velvet was standing watching me when I came around a corner last night. I photographed him with the Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS, this lens is amazing in low light conditions. It was a pretty good night all in all. Saw 4 turkeys in a field, the buck and then a little later a doe by herself. My son Mark even called me because a beautiful gobbler had just jumped out in front of him while he was driving in Hermitage.

Wild Irises

It seems the more I try to get outdoors to photograph the harder it becomes. Just shooting nature should be a simple task you would think. Unlike working with people who you can set an appointment for a certain day and time, after checking the calendar for conflicting schedules. Nature seems to be always there, so what makes getting out and capturing some of the beautiful light and colors so difficult? Its like visiting relatives who live right up the road from you. If they were 200 miles away you'd make an effort to go see them on a routine basis. But at least for me I tend to not stop and just visit nearby family and friends..... I'll include this in my list of "things to improve on".

Todays image is one I recently took in a small swamping area in Venango County. I need to look up its official name, but for now I'll just call it a wild iris. I've made it large enough that if you click on the picture you can then download it at a size of 1440 x 960 which should make for a nice desktop wallpaper. If you like them at this size I'll do more of them.
